<< Psalms 2 >>
Parallel NASB / KJV / GWT / WEB / DBY
The Reign of the LORD’S Anointed.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?1 Why do the nations gather together? Why do their people devise useless plots?1 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?1 Why are the nations in tumultuous agitation, and why do the peoples meditate a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,2 Kings take their stands. Rulers make plans together against the LORD and against his Messiah by saying, 2 The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh, and against his Anointed, saying,2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the princes plot together, against Jehovah and against his anointed:
3 "Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.3 "Let's break apart their chains and shake off their ropes."3 "Let's break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us."3 Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their cords from us!
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.4 The one enthroned in heaven laughs. The Lord makes fun of them.4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision.4 He that dwelleth in the heavens shall laugh, the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.5 Then he speaks to them in his anger. In his burning anger he terrifies them by saying,5 Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath:5 Then will he speak to them in his anger, and in his fierce displeasure will he terrify them:

6 "But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.6 "I have installed my own king on Zion, my holy mountain."6 "Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion."6 And I have anointed my king upon Zion, the hill of my holiness.
7 "I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.7 I will announce the LORD's decree. He said to me: "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.7 I will tell of the decree. Yahweh said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.7 I will declare the decree: Jehovah hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; I this day have begotten thee.
8 Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.8 Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance and the ends of the earth as your own possession.8 Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance, the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.8 Ask of me, and I will give thee nations for an inheritance, and for thy possession the ends of the earth:
9 'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.9 You will break them with an iron scepter. You will smash them to pieces like pottery."9 You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."9 Thou shalt break them with a sceptre of iron, as a potter's vessel thou shalt dash them in pieces.
10 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.10 Now, you kings, act wisely. Be warned, you rulers of the earth!10 Now therefore be wise, you kings. Be instructed, you judges of the earth.10 And now, O kings, be ye wise, be admonished, ye judges of the earth.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.11 Serve Yahweh with fear, and rejoice with trembling.11 Serve Jehovah with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.12 Kiss the Son, or he will become angry and you will die on your way because his anger will burst into flames. Blessed is everyone who takes refuge in him.12 Give sincere homage to the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him. A Psalm by David, when he fled from Absalom his son.12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, though his anger burn but a little. Blessed are all who have their trust in him.
