In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed; In Your righteousness deliver me. | 1 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. | 1 [For the choir director; a psalm by David.] I have taken refuge in you, O LORD. Never let me be put to shame. Save me because of your righteousness. | 1 In you, Yahweh, I take refuge. Let me never be disappointed. Deliver me in your righteousness. | 1 {To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} In thee, Jehovah, do I trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. | 2 Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be to me a rock of strength, A stronghold to save me. | 2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. | 2 Turn your ear toward me. Rescue me quickly. Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me. | 2 Bow down your ear to me. Deliver me speedily. Be to me a strong rock, a house of defense to save me. | 2 Incline thine ear to me, deliver me speedily; be a strong rock to me, a house of defence to save me. | 3 For You are my rock and my fortress; For Your name's sake You will lead me and guide me. | 3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. | 3 Indeed, you are my rock and my fortress. | 6 I hate those who regard vain idols, But I trust in the LORD. | 6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD. | 6 I hate those who cling to false gods, but I trust the LORD. | 6 I hate those who regard lying vanities, but I trust in Yahweh. | 6 I have hated them that observe lying vanities; and as for me, I have confided in Jehovah. | 7 I will rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness, Because You have seen my affliction; You have known the troubles of my soul, | 7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; | 7 I will rejoice and be glad because of your mercy. You have seen my misery. You have known the troubles in my soul. | 7 I will be glad and rejoice in your loving kindness, for you have seen my affliction. You have known my soul in adversities. | 7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy loving-kindness, for thou hast seen mine affliction; thou hast known the troubles of my soul, | 8 And You have not given me over into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a large place. | 8 And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. | 8 You have not handed me over to the enemy. My eyes, my soul, and my body waste away from grief. | 9 Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am in distress. My eye, my soul, and my body waste away with grief. | 9 Be gracious unto me, Jehovah, for I am in trouble: mine eye wasteth away with vexation, my soul and my belly. | 10 For my life is spent with sorrow And my years with sighing; My strength has failed because of my iniquity, And my body has wasted away. | 10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed. | 10 My life is exhausted from sorrow, my years from groaning. | 11 Because of all my adversaries, I have become a reproach, Especially to my neighbors, And an object of dread to my acquaintances; Those who see me in the street flee from me. | 11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me. | 11 I have become a disgrace because of all my opponents. I have become someone dreaded by my friends, even by my neighbors. Those who see me on the street run away from me. | 11 Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors, A fear to my acquaintances. Let them be silent in Sheol. | 17 Jehovah, let me not be ashamed; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, let them be silent in Sheol. | 18 Let the lying lips be mute, Which speak arrogantly against the righteous With pride and contempt. | 18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. | 18 Let [their] lying lips be speechless, since they speak against righteous people with arrogance and contempt. | 18 Let the lying lips be mute, which speak against the righteous insolently, with pride and contempt. | 18 Let the lying lips become dumb, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt. | 19 How great is Your goodness, Which You have stored up for those who fear You, Which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, Before the sons of men! | 19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! | 19 Your kindness is so great! You reserve it for those who fear you. Adam's descendants watch as you show it to those who take refuge in you. | 19 Oh how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for those who fear you, which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, before the sons of men! | 19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee, which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee, before the sons of men! | 20 You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the conspiracies of man; You keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues. | 20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. | 20 You hide them in the secret place of your presence from those who scheme against them. You keep them in a shelter, safe from quarrelsome tongues. | 20 In the shelter of your presence you will hide them from the plotting of man. | 21 Blessed be the LORD, For He has made marvelous His lovingkindness to me in a besieged city. | 21 Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city. | 21 Thank the LORD! He has shown me the miracle of his mercy in a city under attack. | 21 Praise be to Yahweh, for he has shown me his marvelous loving kindness in a strong city. | 21 Blessed be Jehovah; for he hath shewn me wondrously his loving-kindness in a strong city. | 22 As for me, I said in my alarm, "I am cut off from before Your eyes"; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications When I cried to You. | 22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. | 22 When I was panic-stricken, I said, "I have been cut off from your sight." But you heard my pleas for mercy when I cried out to you for help. | 22 As for me, I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before your eyes." Nevertheless you heard the voice of my petitions when I cried to you. | 22 As for me, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes; nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. | 23 O love the LORD, all you His godly ones! The LORD preserves the faithful And fully recompenses the proud doer. | 23 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. | 23 Love the LORD, all you godly ones! The LORD protects faithful people, but he pays back in full those who act arrogantly. | 23 Oh love Yahweh, all you his saints! Yahweh preserves the faithful, and fully recompenses him who behaves arrogantly. | 23 Love Jehovah, all ye his saints. Jehovah preserveth the faithful, and plentifully requiteth the proud doer. | 24 Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the LORD. | 24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD. | 24 Be strong, all who wait with hope for the LORD, and let your heart be courageous. | 24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in Yahweh.
