1 Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father's house, To the land which I will show you; | 1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: | 1 The LORD said to Abram, "Leave your land, your relatives, and your father's home. Go to the land that I will show you. | 1 Now Yahweh said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you. | 1 And Jehovah had said to Abram, Go out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, to the land that I will shew thee. | 2 And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; | 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: | 2 I will make you a great nation, I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. | 2 I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing. | 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. | 3 And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed." | 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. | 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse. Through you every family on earth will be blessed." | 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you." | 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. | 4 So Abram went forth as the LORD had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. | 4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. | 4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was 75 years old when he left Haran. | 4 So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran. | 4 And Abram departed as Jehovah had said to him. And Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran. | 5 Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his nephew, and all their possessions which they had accumulated, and the persons which they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan; thus they came to the land of Canaan. | 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. | 5 Abram set out for Canaan. He took along his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all the possessions they had accumulated and the servants they had acquired in Haran. | 5 Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came. | 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had acquired, and the souls that they had obtained in Haran, and they went out to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
6 Abram passed through the land as far as the site of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. Now the Canaanite was then in the land. | 6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. | 6 They arrived in Canaan, and Abram traveled through the land to the oak tree belonging to Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. | 6 Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land. | 6 And Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. | 7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD who had appeared to him. | 7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. | 7 Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, "I'm going to give this land to your descendants." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him. | 7 Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, "I will give this land to your seed." He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him. | 7 And Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land. And there he built an altar to Jehovah who had appeared to him. | 8 Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the LORD and called upon the name of the LORD. | 8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. | 8 He moved on to the hills east of Bethel, and he put up his tent-with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. He also built an altar to the LORD there and worshiped the LORD. | 8 He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh. | 8 And he removed thence towards the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel toward the west, and Ai toward the east; and there he built an altar to Jehovah, and called on the name of Jehovah. | 9 Abram journeyed on, continuing toward the Negev. | 9 And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south. | 9 Abram kept moving toward the Negev. | 9 Abram traveled, going on still toward the South. | 9 And Abram moved onward, going on still toward the south. | 10 Now there was a famine in the land; so Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land. | 10 And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land. | 10 There was a famine in the land. Abram went to Egypt to stay awhile because the famine was severe. | 10 There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land. | 10 And there was a famine in the land. 11 It came about when he came near to Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman; | 11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: | 11 When he was about to enter Egypt, Abram said to his wife Sarai, "I know that you're a beautiful woman. | 11 It happened, when he had come near to enter Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at. | 11 And it came to pass when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a woman fair to look upon. | 12 and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, 'This is his wife'; and they will kill me, but they will let you live. | 12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. | 12 When the Egyptians see you, they'll say, 'This is his wife!' Then they'll kill me but let you live. | 12 It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife.' They will kill me, but they will save you alive. | 12 And it will come to pass when the Egyptians see thee, that they will say, She is his wife; and they will slay me, and save thee alive. | 13 "Please say that you are my sister so that it may go well with me because of you, and that I may live on account of you." | 13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee. | 13 Please say that you're my sister. Then everything will be alright for me, and because of you I will live." | 13 Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you." | 13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me on thy account, and my soul may live because of thee. | 14 It came about when Abram came into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful. | 14 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. | 14 When Abram arrived in Egypt, the Egyptians saw how very beautiful his wife was. | 14 It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful. | 14 And it came to pass when Abram came into Egypt, that the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. | 15 Pharaoh's officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. | 15 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. | 15 When Pharaoh's officials saw her, they raved about her to Pharaoh, so Sarai was taken to Pharaoh's palace. | 15 The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. | 15 And the princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
16 Therefore he treated Abram well for her sake; and gave him sheep and oxen and donkeys and male and female servants and female donkeys and camels. | 16 And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels. | 16 Everything went well for Abram because of her, and he was given sheep, cattle, donkeys, male and female slaves, and camels. | 16 He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels. | 16 And he treated Abram well on her account; and he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and bondmen, and bondwomen, and she-asses, and camels. | 17 But the LORD struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. | 17 And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife. | 17 However, the LORD struck Pharaoh and his household with terrible plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. | 17 Yahweh plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. | 17 And Jehovah plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife. | 18 Then Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? | 18 And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? | 18 Then Pharaoh called for Abram. "What have you done to me?" he asked. "Why didn't you tell me that she's your wife? | 18 Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this that you have done to me? Why didn't you tell me that she was your wife? | 18 And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this thou hast done to me? Why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? | 19 "Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife, take her and go." | 19 Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way. | 19 Why did you say, 'She's my sister' and allow me to take her for my wife? Here's your wife! Take her and go!" | 19 Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way." | 19 Why didst thou say, She is my sister, so that I took her as my wife. And now, behold, there is thy wife: take her, and go away. | 20 Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they escorted him away, with his wife and all that belonged to him. | 20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had. | 20 Pharaoh gave his men orders concerning Abram. They sent Abram away with his wife and everything that he had. | 20 Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they brought him on the way with his wife and all that he had. | 20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him, and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had. |
