2 Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who had charge of all that he owned, "Please place your hand under my thigh,2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:2 So Abraham said to the senior servant of his household who was in charge of all that he owned, "Take a solemn oath.2 Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, "Please put your hand under my thigh.2 And Abraham said to his servant, the eldest of his house, who ruled over all that he had, Put thy hand, I pray thee, under my thigh,
3 and I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live,3 And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:3 I want you to swear by the LORD God of heaven and earth that you will not get my son a wife from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I'm living.3 I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.3 and I will make thee swear by Jehovah, the God of the heavens and the God of the earth, that thou take not a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am dwelling;
4 but you will go to my country and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac."4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.4 Instead, you will go to the land of my relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac."4 But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac."4 but thou shalt go to my land and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.
5 The servant said to him, "Suppose the woman is not willing to follow me to this land; should I take your son back to the land from where you came?"5 And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest?5 The servant asked him, "What if the woman doesn't want to come back to this land with me? Should I take your son all the way back to the land you came from?"5 The servant said to him, "What if the woman isn't willing to follow me to this land? Must I bring your son again to the land you came from?"5 And the servant said to him, Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land: must I, then, bring thy son again in any case to the land from which thou hast removed?

6 Then Abraham said to him, "Beware that you do not take my son back there!6 And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.6 "Make sure that you do not take my son back there," Abraham said to him.6 Abraham said to him, "Beware that you don't bring my son there again.6 And Abraham said to him, Beware that thou bring not my son thither again.
7 "The LORD, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my birth, and who spoke to me and who swore to me, saying, 'To your descendants I will give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you will take a wife for my son from there.7 The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.7 "The LORD God of heaven took me from my father's home and the land of my family. He spoke to me and swore this oath: 'I will give this land to your descendants.' "God will send his angel ahead of you, and you will get my son a wife from there.7 Yahweh, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my birth, who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, 'I will give this land to your seed.' He will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.7 Jehovah the God of the heavens, who took me out of my father's house, and out of the land of my nativity, and who has spoken to me, and who has sworn to me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land he will send his angel before thee, that thou mayest take a wife for my son thence.
8 "But if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be free from this my oath; only do not take my son back there."8 And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again.8 If the woman doesn't want to come back with you, then you'll be free from this oath that you swear to me. But don't take my son back there."8 If the woman isn't willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath. Only you shall not bring my son there again."8 And if the woman be not willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be quit of this my oath: only, bring not my son thither again.

13 "Behold, I am standing by the spring, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water;13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:13 Here I am standing by the spring, and the girls of the city are coming out to draw water.13 Behold, I am standing by the spring of water. 14 now may it be that the girl to whom I say, 'Please let down your jar so that I may drink,' and who answers, 'Drink, and I will water your camels also '-- may she be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to my master."14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast showed kindness unto my master.14 I will ask a girl, 'May I please have a drink from your jar?' If she answers, 'Have a drink, and I'll also water your camels,' let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. This way I'll know that you've shown your kindness to my master."14 Let it happen, that the young lady to whom I will say, 'Please let down your pitcher, that I may drink,' and she will say, 'Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink,'--let her be the one you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master."14 And let it come to pass, that the maiden to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink, and who will say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also, be she whom thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and hereby I shall know that thou hast dealt kindly with my master.

15 Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor, came out with her jar on her shoulder.15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.15 Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel, son of Milcah, who was the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor.15 It happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.15 And it came to pass before he had ended speaking, that behold, Rebecca came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother; and she had her pitcher upon her shoulder.

16 The girl was very beautiful, a virgin, and no man had had relations with her; and she went down to the spring and filled her jar and came up.16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.16 The girl was a very attractive virgin. 19 Now when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, "I will draw also for your camels until they have finished drinking."19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.19 When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, "I'll also keep drawing water for your camels until they've had enough to drink."19 When she had done giving him drink, she said, "I will also draw for your camels, until they have done drinking."19 And when she had given him enough to drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have drunk enough.
20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, and ran back to the well to draw, and she drew for all his camels.20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the water trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels.20 She hurried, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again to the well to draw, and drew for all his camels.20 And she hasted and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again to the well to draw water; and she drew for all his camels.

21 Meanwhile, the man was gazing at her in silence, to know whether the LORD had made his journey successful or not.21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.21 The man was silently watching her to see whether or not the LORD had made his trip successful.21 The man looked steadfastly at her, remaining silent, to know whether Yahweh had made his journey prosperous or not.21 And the man was astonished at her, remaining silent, to know whether Jehovah had made his journey prosperous or not.
22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took a gold ring weighing a half-shekel and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels in gold,22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a fifth of an ounce and two gold bracelets weighing four ounces.22 It happened, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden ring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold,22 And it came to pass when the camels had drunk enough, that the man took a gold ring, of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands, ten shekels weight of gold,
23 and said, "Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room for us to lodge in your father's house?"23 And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?23 He asked, "Whose daughter are you? Please tell me whether there is room in your father's house for us to spend the night."23 and said, "Whose daughter are you? Please tell me. Is there room in your father's house for us to lodge in?"23 and said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee. Is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge?

27 He said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His lovingkindness and His truth toward my master; as for me, the LORD has guided me in the way to the house of my master's brothers."27 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.27 He said, "Praise the LORD, the God of my master Abraham. The LORD hasn't failed to be kind and faithful to my master. The LORD has led me on this trip to the home of my master's relatives."27 He said, "Blessed be Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his loving kindness and his truth toward my master. As for me, Yahweh has led me in the way to the house of my master's relatives."27 and said, Blessed be Jehovah, God of my master Abraham, who has not withdrawn his loving-kindness and his faithfulness from my master; I being in the way, Jehovah has led me to the house of my master's brethren.

He came to the man, who was standing with the camels by the spring. 30 It happened, when he saw the ring, and the bracelets on his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, "This is what the man said to me," that he came to the man. Behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring.30 And it came to pass when he saw the ring and the bracelets on his sister's hand, and when he heard the words of Rebecca his sister, saying, Thus spoke the man to me that he came to the man, and behold, he was standing by the camels, by the well.

31 And he said, "Come in, blessed of the LORD! Why do you stand outside since I have prepared the house, and a place for the camels?"31 And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.31 He said, "Come in, you whom the LORD has blessed. Why are you standing out here? I have straightened up the house and made a place for the camels."31 He said, "Come in, you blessed of Yahweh. Why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house, and room for the camels."31 And he said, Come in, blessed of Jehovah! why standest thou outside? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.
32 So the man entered the house. Then Laban unloaded the camels, and he gave straw and feed to the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.32 And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him.32 So the man went into the house. The camels were unloaded and given straw and feed. Then water was brought for him and his men to wash their feet.32 The man came into the house, and he unloaded the camels. 33 But when food was set before him to eat, he said, "I will not eat until I have told my business." And he said, "Speak on."33 And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.33 When the food was put in front of him, he said, "I won't eat until I've said what I have to say." "Speak up," Laban said.33 Food was set before him to eat, but he said, "I will not eat until I have told my message." He said, "Speak on."33 And there was set meat before him to eat; but he said, I will not eat until I have made known my business. And he said, Speak on.
34 So he said, "I am Abraham's servant.34 And he said, I am Abraham's servant.34 "I am Abraham's servant," he said.34 He said, "I am Abraham's servant.34 And he said, I am Abraham's servant.
35 "The LORD has greatly blessed my master, so that he has become rich; and He has given him flocks and herds, and silver and gold, and servants and maids, and camels and donkeys.35 And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.35 "The LORD has blessed my master, and he has become wealthy. The LORD has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female slaves, camels and donkeys.35 Yahweh has blessed my master greatly. He has become great. He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male servants and female servants, and camels and donkeys.35 And Jehovah has blessed my master greatly, and he is become great; and he has given him sheep and cattle, and silver and gold, and bondmen and bondwomen, and camels and asses.

36 "Now Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master in her old age, and he has given him all that he has.36 And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.36 My master's wife Sarah gave him a son in her old age, and my master has given that son everything he has.36 Sarah, my master's wife, bore a son to my master when she was old. 37 "My master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live;37 And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:37 My master made me swear this oath: 'Don't get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I'm living.37 My master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,37 And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanite, in whose land I am dwelling;

40 "He said to me, 'The LORD, before whom I have walked, will send His angel with you to make your journey successful, and you will take a wife for my son from my relatives and from my father's house;40 And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:40 "He answered me, 'I have been living the way the LORD wants me to. The LORD will send his angel with you to make your trip successful. You will get my son a wife from my relatives and from my father's family.40 He said to me, 'Yahweh, before whom I walk, will send his angel with you, and prosper your way. You shall take a wife for my son of my relatives, and of my father's house.40 And he said to me, Jehovah, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way, that thou mayest take a wife for my son of my family, and out of my father's house.

41 then you will be free from my oath, when you come to my relatives; and if they do not give her to you, you will be free from my oath.'41 Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.41 Then you will be free from your oath to me. You will also be free of your oath to me if my relatives are not willing to do this when you go to them.'41 Then will you be clear from my oath, when you come to my relatives. If they don't give her to you, you shall be clear from my oath.'41 Then shalt thou be quit of my oath, when thou shalt have come to my family. And if they give thee not one, thou shalt be quit of my oath.
42 "So I came today to the spring, and said, 'O LORD, the God of my master Abraham, if now You will make my journey on which I go successful;42 And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go:42 "When I came to the spring today, I prayed, 'LORD God of my master Abraham, please make my trip successful.42 I came this day to the spring, and said, 'Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, if now you do prosper my way which I go--42 And I came this day to the well, and said, Jehovah, God of my master Abraham, if now thou wilt prosper my way on which I go,
43 behold, I am standing by the spring, and may it be that the maiden who comes out to draw, and to whom I say, "Please let me drink a little water from your jar";43 Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;43 I'm standing by the spring. I'll say to the young woman who comes out to draw water, "Please give me a drink of water."43 behold, I am standing by this spring of water. Let it happen, that the maiden who comes forth to draw, to whom I will say, "Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink,"43 behold, I stand by the well of water, and let it come to pass that the damsel who cometh forth to draw water, and to whom I shall say, Give me, I pray thee, a little water out of thy pitcher to drink,
44 and she will say to me, "You drink, and I will draw for your camels also"; let her be the woman whom the LORD has appointed for my master's son.'44 And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master's son.44 If she says to me, "Not only may you have a drink, but I will also draw water for your camels," let her be the woman the LORD has chosen for my master's son.'44 and she will tell me, "Drink, and I will also draw for your camels,"--let her be the woman whom Yahweh has appointed for my master's son.'44 and she shall say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels that she should be the woman whom Jehovah hath appointed for my master's son.
45 "Before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder, and went down to the spring and drew, and I said to her, 'Please let me drink.'45 And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.45 "Before I had finished praying, Rebekah came with her jar on her shoulder. She went down to the spring and drew water. "So I asked her, 'May I have a drink?'45 Before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder. She went down to the spring, and drew. And she said, the daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.47 "Then I asked her, 'Whose daughter are you?' "She answered, 'The daughter of Bethuel, son of Nahor and Milcah.' "I put the ring in her nose and the bracelets on her wrists.47 I asked her, and said, 'Whose daughter are you?' 48 "And I bowed low and worshiped the LORD, and blessed the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who had guided me in the right way to take the daughter of my master's kinsman for his son.48 And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.48 I knelt, bowing down to the LORD. I praised the LORD, the God of my master Abraham. The LORD led me in the right direction to get the daughter of my master's relative for his son.48 I bowed my head, and worshiped Yahweh, and blessed Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter for his son.48 And I stooped, and bowed down before Jehovah; and I blessed Jehovah, God of my master Abraham, who has led me the right way to take my master's brother's daughter for his son.
49 "So now if you are going to deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me; and if not, let me know, that I may turn to the right hand or the left."49 And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.49 Tell me whether or not you're going to show my master true kindness so that I will know what to do."49 Now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me. If not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left."49 And now, if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me; and if not, tell me; and I will turn to the right hand or to the left.
50 Then Laban and Bethuel replied, "The matter comes from the LORD; so we cannot speak to you bad or good.50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.50 Laban and Bethuel answered, "This is from the LORD. We can't say anything to you one way or another.50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered, "The thing proceeds from Yahweh. 51 "Here is Rebekah before you, take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master's son, as the LORD has spoken."51 Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken.51 Here's Rebekah! Take her and go! She will become the wife of your master's son, as the LORD has said."51 Behold, Rebekah is before you. Isaac Marries Rebekah
