Jesus Our High Priest
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;1 Brothers and sisters, you are holy partners in a heavenly calling. So look carefully at Jesus, the apostle and chief priest about whom we make our declaration of faith.1 Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus;1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus,
2 He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house.2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.2 Jesus is faithful to God, who appointed him, in the same way that Moses was faithful when he served in God's house.2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house.2 who is faithful to him that has constituted him, as Moses also in all his house.
3 For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.3 Jesus deserves more praise than Moses in the same way that the builder of a house is praised more than the house.3 For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who built the house has more honor than the house.3 For he has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by how much he that has built it has more honour than the house.
4 For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.4 After all, every house has a builder, but the builder of everything is God.4 For every house is built by someone; but he who built all things is God.4 For every house is built by some one; but he who has built all things is God.
5 Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;5 Moses was a faithful servant in God's household. He told [the people] what God would say in the future.5 Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken,5 And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house, as a ministering servant, for a testimony of the things to be spoken after;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house-- whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.6 But Christ is a faithful son in charge of God's household. We are his household if we continue to have courage and to be proud of the confidence we have.6 but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house; whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of our hope firm to the end.6 but Christ, as Son over his house, whose house are we, if indeed we hold fast the boldness and the boast of hope firm to the end.
7 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,7 As the Holy Spirit says, "If you hear God speak today, don't be stubborn.7 Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear his voice,7 Wherefore, even as says the Holy Spirit, To-day if ye will hear his voice,
8 DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME, AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS,8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:8 Don't be stubborn like those who rebelled and tested me in the desert.8 don't harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,8 harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness;
9 WHERE YOUR FATHERS TRIED Me BY TESTING Me, AND SAW MY WORKS FOR FORTY YEARS.9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.9 That is where your ancestors tested me,9 where your fathers tested me by proving me, and saw my works for forty years.9 where your fathers tempted me, by proving me, and saw my works forty years.
10 "THEREFORE I WAS ANGRY WITH THIS GENERATION, AND SAID, 'THEY ALWAYS GO ASTRAY IN THEIR HEART, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW MY WAYS';10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.10 although they had seen what I had done for 40 years. That is why I was angry with those people. So I said, 'Their hearts continue to stray, and they have not learned my ways.'10 Therefore I was displeased with that generation, and said, 'They always err in their heart, but they didn't know my ways;'10 Wherefore I was wroth with this generation, and said, They always err in heart; and they have not known my ways;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, 'THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.'"11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)11 So I angrily took a solemn oath that they would never enter my place of rest."11 as I swore in my wrath, 'They will not enter into my rest.'"11 so I swore in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest.
The Peril of Unbelief
12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.12 Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you ever develop a wicked, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.12 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God;12 See, brethren, lest there be in any one of you a wicked heart of unbelief, in turning away from the living God.
13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.13 Encourage each other every day while you have the opportunity. If you do this, none of you will be deceived by sin and become stubborn.13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called "today;" lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.13 But encourage yourselves each day, as long as it is called To-day, that none of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;14 After all, we will remain Christ's partners only if we continue to hold on to our original confidence until the end.14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end:14 For we are become companions of the Christ if indeed we hold the beginning of the assurance firm to the end;
15 while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME."15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.15 Scripture says, "If you hear God speak today, don't be stubborn. Don't be stubborn like those who rebelled."15 while it is said, "Today if you will hear his voice, don't harden your hearts, as in the rebellion."15 in that it is said, To-day if ye will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.16 Who heard God and rebelled? All those whom Moses led out of Egypt rebelled.16 For who, when they heard, rebelled? No, didn't all those who came out of Egypt by Moses?16 (for who was it, who, having heard, provoked? but was it not all who came out of Egypt by Moses?
17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?17 With whom was God angry for 40 years? He was angry with those who sinned and died in the desert.17 With whom was he displeased forty years? Wasn't it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?17 And with whom was he wroth forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?18 Who did God swear would never enter his place of rest? He was talking about those who didn't obey him.18 To whom did he swear that they wouldn't enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient?18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to those who had not hearkened to the word?
19 So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.19 So we see that they couldn't enter his place of rest because they didn't believe.19 We see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.19 And we see that they could not enter in on account of unbelief;)
