Zophar Rebukes Job
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,1 Then Zophar from Naama replied [to Job],1 Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,1 And Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
 "Shall a multitude of words go unanswered, And a talkative man be acquitted?2 Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?2 "Shouldn't someone answer this flood of words? Should a good public speaker be acquitted?2 "Shouldn't the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?2 Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man of much talk be justified?
 "Shall your boasts silence men? And shall you scoff and none rebuke?3 Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?3 Should your empty talk silence others so that you can make fun of us without any shame?3 Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, shall no man make you ashamed?3 Should thy fictions make men hold their peace? and shouldest thou mock, and no one make thee ashamed?
 "For you have said, 'My teaching is pure, And I am innocent in your eyes.'4 For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.4 You say, 'My teaching is morally correct,' and, 'As you can see, I'm innocent.'4 For you say, 'My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.'4 For thou sayest, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
 "But would that God might speak, And open His lips against you,5 But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;5 I only wish God would speak and open his mouth [to talk] to you.5 But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,5 But oh that +God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

 And show you the secrets of wisdom! For sound wisdom has two sides. Know then that God forgets a part of your iniquity.6 And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.6 He would tell you the secrets of wisdom, because [true] wisdom is twice [as great as your wisdom], and you would know that God forgets your sin. 6 that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.6 And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, how that they are the double of what is realised; and know that +God passeth by much of thine iniquity!
 "Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?7 Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?7 "Can you discover God's hidden secrets, or are you able to find the Almighty's limits?7 "Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?7 Canst thou by searching find out +God? canst thou find out the Almighty to perfection?
 "They are high as the heavens, what can you do? Deeper than Sheol, what can you know?8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?8 [God's wisdom is] higher than heaven. What can you do? It is deeper than [the depths] of hell. What can you know?8 They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol. What can you know?8 It is as the heights of heaven; what wilt thou do? deeper than Sheol; what canst thou know?
 "Its measure is longer than the earth And broader than the sea.9 The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.9 It is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.9 Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.9 The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
 "If He passes by or shuts up, Or calls an assembly, who can restrain Him?10 If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?10 If God comes along and imprisons [someone] and then calls a court into session, who can stop him?10 If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?10 If he pass by, and shut up, and call to judgment, who can hinder him?

 "For He knows false men, And He sees iniquity without investigating.11 For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?11 He knows who the scoundrels are. And when he sees sin, doesn't he pay attention to it?11 For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn't consider it.11 For he knoweth vain men, and seeth wickedness when man doth not consider it;
 "An idiot will become intelligent When the foal of a wild donkey is born a man.12 For vain men would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.12 But an empty-headed person will gain understanding when a wild donkey is born tame.12 An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey's colt.12 Yet a senseless man will make bold, though man be born like the foal of a wild ass.
 "If you would direct your heart right And spread out your hand to Him,13 If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;13 "If you want to set your heart right, then pray to him.13 "If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.13 If thou prepare thy heart and stretch out thy hands toward him,
 If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, And do not let wickedness dwell in your tents;14 If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.14 If you're holding on to sin, put it far away, and don't let injustice live in your tent.14 If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don't let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.14 If thou put far away the iniquity which is in thy hand, and let not wrong dwell in thy tents;
 "Then, indeed, you could lift up your face without moral defect, And you would be steadfast and not fear.15 For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:15 Then you will be able to show your face without being ashamed, and you will be secure and unafraid.15 Surely then you shall lift up your face without spot; Yes, you shall be steadfast, and shall not fear:15 Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot, and thou shalt be stedfast and shalt not fear:

 "For you would forget your trouble, As waters that have passed by, you would remember it.16 Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:16 [Then] you will forget your misery and remember it like water that has flowed downstream.16 for you shall forget your misery. You shall remember it as waters that are passed away.16 For thou shalt forget misery; as waters that are passed away shalt thou remember it;
 "Your life would be brighter than noonday; Darkness would be like the morning.17 And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.17 Then your life will be brighter than the noonday sun. The darkness in your life will become like morning.17 Life shall be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it shall be as the morning.17 And life shall arise brighter than noonday; though thou be enshrouded in darkness, thou shalt be as the morning,
 "Then you would trust, because there is hope; And you would look around and rest securely.18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.18 You will feel confident because there's hope, and you will look around and rest in safety.18 You shall be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you shall search, and shall take your rest in safety.18 And thou shalt have confidence, because there shall be hope; and having searched about thee, thou shalt take rest in safety.
 "You would lie down and none would disturb you, And many would entreat your favor.19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.19 You will lie down with no one to frighten you, and many people will try to gain your favor.19 Also you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. Yes, many shall court your favor.19 Yea, thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; and many shall seek thy favour.
 "But the eyes of the wicked will fail, And there will be no escape for them; And their hope is to breathe their last."20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.20 But the wicked will lose their eyesight. Their escape route will be closed. Their only hope is to take their last breath." My Friends Have No Wisdom 20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail. They shall have no way to flee. Their hope shall be the giving up of the spirit."20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and all refuge shall vanish from them, and their hope shall be the breathing out of life.
