Elihu Sharply Reproves Job
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Then Elihu continued and said,1 Elihu spake moreover, and said,1 Elihu continued to speak [to Job and his friends],1 Moreover Elihu answered,1 Moreover Elihu answered and said,
"Do you think this is according to justice? Do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's '?2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?2 "Do you think this is right when you say, 'My case is more just than God's,'2 "Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's,'2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?
"For you say, 'What advantage will it be to You? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?'3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?3 when you ask, 'What benefit is it to you?' and, 'What would I gain by sinning?'3 That you ask, 'What advantage will it be to you? What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?'3 For thou hast asked of what profit it is unto thee: what do I gain more than if I had sinned?
"I will answer you, And your friends with you.4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.4 I will answer you and your friends.4 I will answer you, and your companions with you.4 I will reply to thee in words, and to thy companions with thee.
"Look at the heavens and see; And behold the clouds-- they are higher than you.5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.5 "Look at the heavens and see. Observe the clouds high above you.5 Look to the heavens, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you.5 Look unto the heavens and see; and survey the skies: they are higher than thou.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
"If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against Him? And if your transgressions are many, what do you do to Him?6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?6 If you've sinned, what effect can you have on God? If you've done many wrongs, what can you do to him?6 If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
"If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, Or what does He receive from your hand?7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?7 If you're righteous, what can you give him, or what can he get from you?7 If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou to him? or what doth he receive of thy hand?
"Your wickedness is for a man like yourself, And your righteousness is for a son of man.8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.8 Your wickedness affects only someone like yourself. Your righteousness affects only the descendants of Adam.8 Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man.8 Thy wickedness may affect a man as thou art, and thy righteousness a son of man.
"Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.9 The weight of oppression makes them cry out. The power of mighty people makes them call for help.9 "By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry; they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty:
"But no one says, 'Where is God my Maker, Who gives songs in the night,10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;10 But no one asks, 'Where is God, my Creator, who inspires songs in the night,10 But none says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,10 But none saith, Where is +God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night,
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth And makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?'11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?11 who teaches us more than he teaches the animals of the earth, who makes us wiser than the birds in the sky?'11 who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?'11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowl of the heavens?
"There they cry out, but He does not answer Because of the pride of evil men.12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.12 Then they cry out, but he doesn't answer them because of the arrogance of [those] evil people.12 There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.12 There they cry, and he answereth not, because of the pride of evil men.
"Surely God will not listen to an empty cry, Nor will the Almighty regard it.13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.13 "Surely, God doesn't listen to idle complaints. The Almighty doesn't even pay attention to them.13 Surely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will the Almighty regard it.13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
"How much less when you say you do not behold Him, The case is before Him, and you must wait for Him!14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.14 Although you say that you pay attention to him, your case is in front of him, but you'll have to wait for him.14 How much less when you say you don't see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!14 Although thou sayest thou dost not see him, judgment is before him, therefore wait for him.
"And now, because He has not visited in His anger, Nor has He acknowledged transgression well,15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:15 And now [you say] that his anger doesn't punish [anyone] and he isn't too concerned about evil. 15 But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance.15 But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, doth not Job know his great arrogancy?

So Job opens his mouth emptily; He multiplies words without knowledge."16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.16 Job opens his mouth for no good reason and talks a lot without having any knowledge."16 Therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge."16 For Job hath opened his mouth in vanity, and made words abundant without knowledge.
