<< Psalms 10 >>
Parallel NASB / KJV / GWT / WEB / DBY
A Prayer for the Overthrow of the Wicked.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?1 Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?1 Why are you so distant, LORD? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?1 Why do you stand far off, Yahweh? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?1 Why, Jehovah, standest thou afar off? Why hidest thou thyself in times of distress?
2 In pride the wicked hotly pursue the afflicted; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.2 The wicked person arrogantly pursues oppressed people. He will be caught in the schemes that he planned.2 In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.2 The wicked, in his pride, doth hotly pursue the afflicted. They shall be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
3 For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, And the greedy man curses and spurns the LORD.3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.3 The wicked person boasts about his selfish desires. He blesses robbers, but he curses the LORD.3 For the wicked boasts of his heart's cravings. He blesses the greedy, and condemns Yahweh.3 For the wicked boasteth of his soul's desire, and he blesseth the covetous; he contemneth Jehovah.
4 The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, "There is no God."4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.4 He turns up his nose [and says], "God doesn't care." His every thought [concludes], "There is no God."4 The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.4 The wicked saith, in the haughtiness of his countenance, He doth not search out: all his thoughts are, There is no God!
5 His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them.5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.5 He always seems to succeed. Your judgments are beyond his understanding. He spits at all his opponents.5 His ways are prosperous at all times. He is haughty, and your laws are far from his sight. As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them.5 His ways always succeed; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 He says to himself, "I will not be moved; Throughout all generations I will not be in adversity."6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.6 He says to himself, "Nothing can shake me. I'll never face any trouble."6 He says in his heart, "I shall not be shaken. For generations I shall have no trouble."6 He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; from generation to generation I shall be in no adversity.
7 His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.7 His mouth is full of cursing, deception, and oppression. Trouble and wrongdoing are on the tip of his tongue.7 His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.7 His mouth is full of cursing, and deceit, and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
8 He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the hiding places he kills the innocent; His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.8 He waits in ambush in the villages. From his hiding places he kills innocent people. His eyes are on the lookout for victims.8 He lies in wait near the villages. From ambushes, he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the helpless.8 He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he slay the innocent: his eyes watch for the wretched.
9 He lurks in a hiding place as a lion in his lair; He lurks to catch the afflicted; He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.9 He lies in his hiding place like a lion in his den. He hides there to catch oppressed people. He catches oppressed people when he draws them into his net.9 He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless, when he draws him in his net.9 He lieth in wait secretly, like a lion in his thicket; he lieth in wait to catch the afflicted: he doth catch the afflicted, drawing him into his net.
10 He crouches, he bows down, And the unfortunate fall by his mighty ones.10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.10 [His] victims are crushed. They collapse, and they fall under [the weight of] his power.10 The helpless are crushed. They collapse. They fall under his strength.10 He croucheth, he boweth down, that the wretched may fall by his strong ones.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 He says to himself, "God has forgotten; He has hidden His face; He will never see it."11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.11 He says to himself, "God has forgotten. He has hidden his face. He will never see it!"11 He says in his heart, "God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it."11 He saith in his heart, God hath forgotten, he hideth his face, he will never see it.
12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up Your hand. Do not forget the afflicted.12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.12 Arise, O LORD! Lift your hand, O God. Do not forget oppressed people!12 Arise, Yahweh! God, lift up your hand! Don't forget the helpless.12 Arise, Jehovah; O God, lift up thy hand: forget not the afflicted.
13 Why has the wicked spurned God? He has said to himself, "You will not require it."13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.13 Why does the wicked person despise God? Why does he say to himself, "God doesn't care"?13 Why does the wicked person condemn God, and say in his heart, "God won't call me into account?"13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
14 You have seen it, for You have beheld mischief and vexation to take it into Your hand. The unfortunate commits himself to You; You have been the helper of the orphan.14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.14 You have seen [it]; yes, you have taken note of trouble and grief and placed them under your control. The victim entrusts himself to you. You alone have been the helper of orphans.14 But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.14 Thou hast seen it, for thou thyself beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite by thy hand. The wretched committeth himself unto thee; thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer, Seek out his wickedness until You find none.15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil person. Punish his wickedness until you find no more.15 Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.15 Break thou the arm of the wicked, and as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 The LORD is King forever and ever; Nations have perished from His land.16 The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.16 The LORD is king forever and ever. The nations have vanished from his land.16 Yahweh is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land.16 Jehovah is King for ever and ever: the nations have perished out of his land.
17 O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:17 You have heard the desire of oppressed people, O LORD. You encourage them. You pay close attention to them17 Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,17 Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek, thou hast established their heart: thou causest thine ear to hear,
18 To vindicate the orphan and the oppressed, So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.18 in order to provide justice for orphans and oppressed people so that no mere mortal will terrify them again.18 to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more. For the Chief Musician. By David.18 To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed one, that the man of the earth may terrify no more.
