 For the choir director; according to Shushan Eduth. A Mikhtam of David, to teach; when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have rejected us. You have broken us; You have been angry; O, restore us.1 O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.1 [For the choir director; according to [shushan eduth]; a [miktam] by David; for teaching. When David fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and [when] Joab came back and killed 12,000 men from Edom in the Dead Sea region.] O God, you have rejected us. You have broken down our defenses. You have been angry. Restore us! 1 God, you have rejected us. You have broken us down. You have been angry. Restore us, again.1 {To the chief Musician. On Shushan. Testimony. Michtam of David; to teach: when he strove with the Syrians of Mesopotamia, and the Syrians of Zobah, and Joab returned, and smote the Edomites in the valley of salt, twelve thousand.} O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased: restore us again.
 You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters.2 Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.2 You made the land quake. You split it wide open. Heal the cracks in it because it is falling apart.2 You have made the land tremble. You have torn it. Mend its fractures, for it quakes.2 Thou hast made the earth to tremble, thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
 You have made Your people experience hardship; You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger.3 Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.3 You have made your people experience hardships. You have given us wine that makes us stagger.3 You have shown your people hard things. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.3 Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us to drink the wine of bewilderment.
 You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.4 Yet, you have raised a flag for those who fear you so that they can rally to it when attacked by bows [and arrows]. [Selah]4 You have given a banner to those who fear you, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth, (Selah,)
 That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and answer us!5 That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.5 Save [us] with your powerful hand, and answer us so that those who are dear to you may be rescued. 5 So that your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us.5 That thy beloved ones may be delivered. Save with thy right hand, and answer me.

 God has spoken in His holiness: "I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.6 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.6 God has promised the following through his holiness: "I will triumph! I will divide Shechem. I will measure the valley of Succoth.6 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "I will triumph. I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth.6 God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
 "Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter.7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;7 Gilead is mine. Manasseh is mine. Ephraim is the helmet on my head. Judah is my scepter.7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the defense of my head. Judah is my scepter.7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver;
 "Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I shall throw My shoe; Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!"8 Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.8 Moab is my washtub. I will throw my shoe over Edom. I will shout in triumph over Philistia."8 Moab is my wash basin. I will throw my shoe on Edom. I shout in triumph over Philistia."8 Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; Philistia, shout aloud because of me.
 Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom?9 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?9 Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?9 Who will bring me into the strong city? Who has led me to Edom?9 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me unto Edom?
 Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us? And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?10 Isn't it you, O God, who rejected us? Isn't it you, O God, who refused to accompany our armies?10 Haven't you, God, rejected us? You don't go out with our armies, God.10 Wilt not thou, O God, who didst cast us off? and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?

 O give us help against the adversary, For deliverance by man is in vain.11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.11 Give us help against the enemy because human assistance is worthless.11 Give us help against the adversary, for the help of man is vain.11 Give us help from trouble; for vain is man's deliverance.
 Through God we shall do valiantly, And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.12 With God we will display great strength. He will trample our enemies.12 Through God we shall do valiantly, for it is he who will tread down our adversaries. For the Chief Musician. For a stringed instrument. By David.12 Through God we shall do valiantly; and he it is that will tread down our adversaries.
