The LORD Implored to Defend the Psalmist against the Wicked.A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite. O LORD my God, in You I have taken refuge; Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,1 O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:1 [A [shiggaion] by David; he sang it to the LORD about the [slanderous] words of Cush, a descendant of Benjamin.] O LORD my God, I have taken refuge in you. Save me, and rescue me from all who are pursuing me.1 Yahweh, my God, I take refuge in you. Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,1 {Shiggaion of David, which he sang to Jehovah, concerning the words of Cush the Benjaminite.} Jehovah my God, in thee have I trusted: save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me;
2 Or he will tear my soul like a lion, Dragging me away, while there is none to deliver.2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.2 Like a lion they will tear me to pieces and drag me off with no one to rescue me.2 lest they tear apart my soul like a lion, ripping it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, crushing it while there is no deliverer.
3 O LORD my God, if I have done this, If there is injustice in my hands,3 O LORD my God, If I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;3 O LORD my God, if I have done this- if my hands are stained with injustice,3 Yahweh, my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands,3 Jehovah my God, if I have done this, if there be iniquity in my hands;
4 If I have rewarded evil to my friend, Or have plundered him who without cause was my adversary,4 If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)4 if I have paid back my friend with evil or rescued someone who has no reason to attack me- 4 if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me (yes, if I have delivered him who without cause was my adversary),4 If I have rewarded evil to him that was at peace with me; (indeed I have freed him that without cause oppressed me;)
5 Let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it; And let him trample my life down to the ground And lay my glory in the dust. Selah.5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.5 then let the enemy chase me and catch me. Let him trample my life into the ground. Let him lay my honor in the dust. [Selah]5 let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; yes, let him tread my life down to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.5 Let the enemy pursue after my soul, and take it, and let him tread down my life to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; Lift up Yourself against the rage of my adversaries, And arouse Yourself for me; You have appointed judgment.6 Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.6 Arise in anger, O LORD. Stand up against the fury of my attackers. Wake up, my God. You have already pronounced judgment. 6 Arise, Yahweh, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Awake for me. You have commanded judgment.6 Arise, Jehovah, in thine anger; lift thyself up against the raging of mine oppressors, and awake for me: thou hast commanded judgment.
7 Let the assembly of the peoples encompass You, And over them return on high.7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.7 Let an assembly of people gather around you. Take your seat high above them.7 Let the congregation of the peoples surround you. Rule over them on high.7 And the assembly of the peoples shall encompass thee; and for their sakes return thou on high.
8 The LORD judges the peoples; Vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.8 The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.8 The LORD judges the people of the world. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity.8 Yahweh administers judgment to the peoples. Judge me, Yahweh, according to my righteousness, and to my integrity that is in me.8 Jehovah shall minister judgment to the peoples. Judge me, Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity which is in me.
9 O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; For the righteous God tries the hearts and minds.9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.9 Let the evil within wicked people come to an end, but make the righteous person secure, O righteous God who examines thoughts and emotions.9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; their minds and hearts are searched by the righteous God.9 Oh let the wrong of the wicked come to an end, and establish thou the righteous man; even thou that triest the hearts and reins, the righteous God.
10 My shield is with God, Who saves the upright in heart.10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.10 My shield is God above, who saves those whose motives are decent.10 My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.10 My shield is with God, who saveth the upright in heart.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 God is a righteous judge, And a God who has indignation every day.11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.11 God is a fair judge, a God who is angered by injustice every day.11 God is a righteous judge, yes, a God who has indignation every day.11 God is a righteous judge, and a God who is indignant all the day.
12 If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready.12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.12 If a person does not change, God sharpens his sword. By bending his bow, he makes it ready [to shoot].12 If a man doesn't relent, he will sharpen his sword; he has bent and strung his bow.12 If one turn not, he will sharpen his sword; he hath bent his bow and made it ready,
13 He has also prepared for Himself deadly weapons; He makes His arrows fiery shafts.13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.13 He prepares his deadly weapons and turns them into flaming arrows.13 He has also prepared for himself the instruments of death. He makes ready his flaming arrows.13 And he hath prepared for him instruments of death; his arrows hath he made burning.
14 Behold, he travails with wickedness, And he conceives mischief and brings forth falsehood.14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.14 See how that person conceives evil, is pregnant with harm, and gives birth to lies.14 Behold, he travails with iniquity. Yes, he has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood:
15 He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, And has fallen into the hole which he made.15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.15 He digs a pit and shovels it out. Then he falls into the hole that he made [for others].15 He has dug a hole, and has fallen into the pit which he made.15 He digged a pit, and hollowed it out, and is fallen into the hole that he made.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 His mischief will return upon his own head, And his violence will descend upon his own pate.16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.16 His mischief lands back on his own head. His violence comes down on top of him.16 The trouble he causes shall return to his own head. His violence shall come down on the crown of his own head.16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violence shall come down upon his own pate.
17 I will give thanks to the LORD according to His righteousness And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.17 I will give thanks to the LORD for his righteousness. I will make music to praise the name of the LORD Most High.17 I will give thanks to Yahweh according to his righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of Yahweh Most High. For the Chief Musician; on an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by David.17 I will praise Jehovah according to his righteousness, and will sing forth the name of Jehovah the Most High.
